Fiona loves to 'play' with someone, she does play well by herself but often you hear a little voice say 'there's no one to play with' :( the problem with a big age gap and two older brothers who don't want to play dolls with their little sister (well not all the time)!! Last week we were tasked with making a bird feeder as our nursery homework, out came the pipe cleaners and cheerios and we made a rainbow love heart bird feeder while playing and chatting together - ♥ -
Hi, I'm Lorna, this is my blog, a little about our family life, my crafting and attempts at baking and frugal living.

Five on Friday
I have company this morning, Fi has a temperature and sore throat so no nursery for her this morning. Instead we are cuddled up on the sofa, I am being allowed the occasionally 5 mins to get bits and pieces done but mainly my presence is required beside little Miss.
1. Poorly girl :(
3. Attaching strips of granny squares putting together a crochet blanket
5. and finally Friday means Girls' Brigade and tonight we're having our own Highland Games/Scottish night to celebrate Burns.

4. Maybe bit of book reading - although I expect more of little Miss's books rather than mine :)

Hope you have a fab Friday :)

Craft a week for 2014
Inspired by Debbie over at duckandduffel I am attacking my pinterest boards, one craft a week for 2014.
I chose to patchwork wallpaper for my week 1, so last Saturday and some of Sunday were spent wallpapering pieces of 6x6 paper to a wall in our hallway.

Now to pick my next pin :)

Challenges
I have been very inspired with all the challenges that are going about during this first month of 2014. Are you doing anything specific?
I am linking up with findingmyselfyoung 52 weeks of memories in the attempt to take more photos of our everyday. Week 1 was 'New', my oldest (soon to be 11) got a vsmile console for his 3rd bday :) its recently been brought back out for Fiona, its been a great hit with her and her brothers!!
Last night I took part in by first twitter @craftblogclub, and decided that the challenge that debbie at duckandduffel is doing was just what I needed, I've started a new pinterest board and am working through my pins picking out my favourites. I'm going to start with this next week - patchwork wall paper the paper is here and the wall has been picked, just need to get the wall paper paste.
I've also been very inspired by Emma and her challenge to have a frugally fabulous year. Will be having more of a think on how I can make 2014 frugally fabulous here.
I've been back out running in my attempt to lose weight, my baby will be 4 in April and its time to get it done. Wedding in February and we've been sorting our summer holiday, hopefully these two things will give me a little push in the right direction.
and finally a little bit of crafty goodness, a handmade brooch made using lovey Harris Tweed. Inspiration from a Christmas gift I've made this for a friend in America - I hope she likes it.
I hope your finding lots of inspiration during January :)

New Year, New Start ....
As an avid blog reader I have decided to give it a go, to document a bit of life, things we get up to and things I make.
At the start of a new year I like to think of a few things I'd like to learn during the year.
Probably something creative and something to bake. Over the last couple of years its been crochet - took a good 6 months but it clicked, scones and last year was meringues, which I had messed up so many times I can't count, but not any more :)
New things I'd like to learn - how to make the perfect custard cream and learn to papercut.
Of course there's a much bigger list of things I'd like to do and a huge pile of unfinished projects that I need to tackle.
I'm also going to try and take a family picture every month and of course high on my list of things I should do are to exercise more and lose a bit of weight!!
